Weekend Update!

Hello!

This week has been hectic! I'm back from Spring Break and in full swing! I'm slammed with school work but of course, have found plenty of time to eat! This week one of my very best friends was in town so he and I went to many fabulous restaurants. Unfortunately, I only took pictures on night, but please enjoy pictures from the night we ate Korean food!

I can't remember the names of all of the dishes, but everything was absolutely delicious! Koreatown is a fun place to go in NYC and they have some of the best food!

I've also been having some great breakfasts!

Nature Path's Heritage Flakes with fresh strawberries and blueberries and milk!

Close up of the goods!

Cereal with a sliced banana, blueberries, and organic milk!

Close up--I love bananas in cereal!

I've been having a sore throat lately so I'm combating it with Emergen-C!

Cinnamon Raisin Bagel Thin with sunflower seed butter, sliced banana (I ate the other half) and Manuka honey!

I love breakfast! Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day! It's a great way to start your day and I love to make new things! I've really been on the breakfast sandwich kick with a nut butter and fruit.

I've got some quickly ripening bananas and milk that's going to expire soon so I think I'll be having another fabulous cereal bowl tomorrow morning!

Enjoy the beautiful sunshine wherever you are!

I Love Spring!

Hello there!

I'm back from my trip to California! It was a blast and I had a great time with my friend! There were so many good eats:

Those are cupcakes from "Icing on the Cupcake" They were delicious! Mint chocolate chip and chocolate with a pink butter cream frosting!

I'm back at school now, it feels good to be back to a routine.  I'm already bombarded with school work, but of course I manage to find time to eat :)

This morning for breakfast I was craving cereal with some fresh fruit. I love spring! Spring has some of the best fruit! Exhibit 1:
Nature Path's Heritage Flakes with milk, fresh blueberries, and fresh strawberries!

Close up!
(Sorry those pictures aren't so great, I'm still working on the lighting and close ups)

It was a delicious breakfast and matched the perfect beginning to spring we're having today: 50s and sunny skies!

I'm off to finish up some homework and then my final class of the day!

Have a wonderful day where ever you are--hopefully you're having nice weather!

California!

Hi All!

I'm so sorry for not having posted in a couple of days. I'm on Spring Break and in California visiting one of my best friends!
Sacramento, California!
We're having a blast! Yesterday we went to San Francisco! It was a little rainy, but the temperature was perfect and the rain didn't stop our shopping! First stop: a chocolate factory! You wouldn't believe how much peanut butter chocolate I came across! The store was made for me : )
Barrels of chocolate!
Reese's Mound

Around 12:45pm, we decided we needed some fuel so that we could continue shopping! We went to (a new to me place) Boudin--a cafe style restaurant that specializes in bread. Check out their cool bread loaves!
Teddie Bear Bread!
We decided on the California Veggie half sandwich with a side salad and the crab cake sandwich. They were both delicious!

We finished the night at an Indian restaurant (we scarfed it down so quickly that the food went unphotographed) and then to Nyo Froyo!
Today we're off to visit one of her friends at college and then babysitting!

Catch you all later!

Breakfast Sandwich

Good morning! Today I woke up at the 'em to get in a good workout! When I came back to my dorm, I was starving and had almond butter on the mind (no surprise). I decided to fix myself an ab, honey, and banana sandwich!

I toasted two pieces of Ezekiel bread on the stove and topped one piece with almond butter, half a sliced banana (I scarfed the other half down before the sandwich was even ready), and a sprinkle of cinnamon. The other slice was topped with Manuka honey--one of my very best friends brought it back for me from New Zealand!

Final product!

This was a delicious breakfast! It definitely hit the spot! My agenda today is to get some work done, go to my internship later, and pack for California! I leave tomorrow night!

Catch you all later!

P.S. I've noticed recently that I have a banana almost every single morning for breakfast! Of course, I'm not complaining because I love bananas, but I'm wondering if I should switch it up a bit. Any recommendations for a different fruit to incorporate into my breakfasts?

Rainy Day

Good morning everyone! I'm back for post number two!

I woke up this morning before my alarm even went off! I got a solid 8 hours of sleep in preparation for the long day ahead of me. My day starts with my 9:30am class, followed by my Chemistry midterm, and finally ends after my last class, at 9:30pm. Long day, huh? But tomorrow is Friday, one step closer to spring break! Anyone have any fun plans? I'm going to be visiting one of my best friends ever, Emily, in California! We try to see each other as much as possible but when we can't, we're always texting, emailing, calling, or skyping.

This morning's breakfast goes un-photographed because the lighting in my room was terrible. But I promise better shots for my later meals! I had a bowl of oatmeal with flaxseeds, fresh blueberries, a sliced banana, a generous sprinkle of cinnamon (I just finished an entire bottle from 6 months ago, woops), and 1 tbs. of almond butter. It was very filling. And I may have had a small brownie slice left over from my roommate baking last night. :)

Wish me luck on my test, and if it's raining (or snowing) where you are, stay dry!

Until next time, "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."

First Post!

Hey Everyone! This is my very first blog post! Thanks for stopping by to read my blog! I've been following health, fitness, and food blogs for a little less than a year now, and I finally decided to start my own. I wasn't sure if I was going to start one, but with everything that's going on in my life and all of the exciting new things coming up in the next year, I thought this would be the perfect time to start and get into the swing of things!

A little background on myself: My name is Cindy. I'm originally from Cleveland, Ohio but I'm currently studying Hotel and Tourism Management in New York City! Transitioning from a small town outside of Cleveland to New York City, while simultaneously trying to adjust to college life has been a challenge. I struggled with knowing what was healthy and what was not my first year, and like many college freshman, put on a bit of weight. Come summer, my Mom and I decided to make some much needed healthy changes and educated ourselves on basic nutrition and exercise. This summer was a real turning point for me in terms of my health. I learned to love vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy meats, healthy fats, and sweets.  It hasn't been easy learning, but every day is a new day and a fresh start! I'm on the right track and doing what works for me! Everything in moderation--life is about enjoying what you love, and that includes food!

I also hope to share some of my fun experiences in NYC and Madrid when I study there in the fall!

I hope you'll join me in my journey to be healthy, happy, and balanced and please feel free to share your thoughts along the way!

I'm off to grab an early dinner and then to an industry seminar, until then...
